VTB Aetos Pro (V9600 Gen.2): The Most Advanced Controller for Light E-Motos
If you've been riding a stock light e-moto and wondering what's holding you back, the answer is almost always the controller. The stock unit is conservative by design — tuned for reliability and compliance, not performance. The VTB Aetos Pro (V9600 Gen.2) changes that entirely.
This is the controller that transforms a capable commuter into a genuine racing machine. Here's everything you need to know.
What Is the VTB Aetos Pro?
The Aetos Pro is a FOC (Field-Oriented Control) / VESC-based smart controller built specifically for light electric motocross platforms. Developed by Ventus VTB, the Gen.2 version represents a significant leap over its predecessor — more power, better thermals, deeper app integration, and a wider compatibility range.
At its core, the Aetos Pro is designed for riders who want full control over every aspect of their motor's behavior — from throttle sensitivity and torque mapping to regenerative braking and burst power limits — all tunable from a smartphone.

What Makes It Different
FOC Control — Smooth Power, Not Just Raw Watts
Most budget controllers use trapezoidal (block) commutation — it's simple but produces cogging, heat, and inefficiency at low speeds. The Aetos Pro uses sinusoidal vector / FOC control, which delivers torque smoothly and precisely across the entire RPM range. The result is better low-speed control, less heat, and more efficient power delivery at every throttle position.
Full Mobile App Control
The Aetos Pro pairs with a dedicated iOS and Android app that gives you granular control over:
- Throttle curves — linear, aggressive, or progressive
- Torque mapping — dial in exactly how power builds
- Burst power limits — set how long peak output is sustained
- Speed limits — useful for training or restricted areas
- Traction behavior — how the controller responds to wheel slip
- Custom ride profiles — save and switch between setups
3 Power Modes + 5 Riding Modes
Switch between Eco, Sport, Race, Boost, and more — each with independently configurable parameters. Whether you're trail riding, practicing, or pinning it on a track, there's a profile for it.
Adjustable Regenerative Braking
Five levels of regen braking, recovering up to ~30% of energy on deceleration. Useful for extending range and adding engine-braking feel — especially on technical terrain.
High-Resolution Display
A full-color display shows real-time data: power output, motor and controller temps, voltage, speed, battery status, and active mode. No guessing what your system is doing.
Bluetooth BMS Integration
Connect to your battery management system for real-time monitoring and dynamic power limiting based on actual cell state — not just voltage estimates.
Future Firmware Potential
Ventus has confirmed upcoming firmware updates that will unlock:
- Wheelie assist
- Anti-rollover support
- G-force logging
- High-precision electronic fall detection
This is a controller you buy once and grow into.
Bike Compatibility
The Aetos Pro is compatible with a wide range of popular light e-moto platforms when paired with the correct bike-specific wiring harness (Version 1.7 / Gen.2). Supported models include:
- Sur-Ron Light Bee (X and S variants)
- Sur-Ron Ultra Bee
- Talaria Sting (MX3, MX4, MX5) and select XXX models
- E-Ride Pro (SS, SS 2.0, SS 3.0, SR, and related versions)
- 79Bike Falcon (GT and Pro — see notes below)
- Ventus One / One+
- Several additional platforms with the correct harness
Important Compatibility Notes
Talaria XXX: The stock motor is typically not compatible with the Aetos Pro. An upgrade to a VTB 28kW motor (or equivalent) is required before installing this controller.
79Bike Falcon Pro: Certain stock motors are also incompatible. An aftermarket motor upgrade is needed.
Wiring Harness: The Aetos Pro does not include a harness. You must purchase the bike-specific Ventus V9600 Wiring Harness (Version 1.7 / Gen.2) separately. Once you have the correct harness, installation is plug-and-play — no cutting or splicing required.
Always confirm your exact model and motor configuration before ordering.
The V9600 Gen.2 Lineup
The Aetos Pro is one of three controllers in the V9600 Gen.2 family, each optimized for a different voltage range:
| Model | Phase Current | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Pro | 1,200A | 60–80V / 72V systems (most common) |
| Max | 960A | Higher voltage builds (~96–109V / 12s–26s) |
| Ultra | 760A | Very high-voltage builds (100V+ / up to 32s) |
For most Light Bee and Talaria builds running a standard 60V or 72V pack, the Pro is the right choice.
Who Is This For?
The Aetos Pro is built for riders who have outgrown their stock setup and want a controller that matches their ambition. If you're running an aftermarket motor, a high-output battery, or simply want the ability to tune every aspect of your ride — this is the upgrade.
It's not a plug-and-forget part. It rewards riders who take the time to dial in their settings. But once tuned, the difference is immediately felt: sharper throttle response, more usable power across the rev range, and a ride that feels genuinely custom-built.
